It is vital that people know you exist, so even if you are an established business, you will need to remind existing customers regularly, why they should buy from you. Your advert should also attract new business.

When people see your advert, it should reflect you and your business clearly and professionally. A messy, hard-to-read-ad is not what you want prospective customers to see, by way of an introduction to you and your business.

 

Talk to Your Customer

When you create an ad in the press, on radio or on social media channels, your message should emphasise why the reader should buy from YOU or at least encourage them to find out more about what you can offer them. Give them a reason to visit your website or call for information: For example, here are two ads that tick all the boxes, in terms of being formatted correctly.

Include a Call-To-Action

Sometimes, you will attract people who are interested, but may not be ready to purchase/participate yet. Always include all your contact details and especially your website address so they can find out more about you. Obviously, this all depends on what you are trying to sell, but, if  you can offer something free, like a special offer or a free report or access to a video with a free class, for example, you can collect an email address and then send them news about upcoming classes, courses, product launches etc. Giving something of value to your potential new customer, will build trust and it gives you the opportunity to let them get to know your business until they are ready to purchase. In marketing terms, this is known as the Sales Funnel.

Don’t be convinced to advertise in publications where you are unlikely to get new customers from. Think about what type of person is your ideal customer. What publication or what online platform is best place to find your ideal customer. Advertising is an investment, so invest wisely. A recent Irish survey showed that
